I have been looking at the diff wrasses and I have gotten so interested in them I think I would like to add some to my 58 as well! I have decided on a pair of the carpenter's flashers My 58 is an LPS tank that so far is goby dominated It has approx a 2 1 2 inch sand bed and is not jam packed

This got me thinking about how they even know its a female Carpenter's Wrasse(in hopes that maybe it could be a female of another species that i have on my fish list :p) I began to search the interwebs for some information on identifying the difference in species when it comes to female flashers but was unable to find any literature on this

I just had a Carpenter's flasher wrasse die in QT after seemingly doing great for over a month Here's a quick timeline of events: Obtained wrasse 3 13 25 via reputable online vendor The other fish in the order (a fairy wrasse) was DOA in a separate bag though so maybe that's a bad sign

Can i add a carpenter wrasse if i have other wrasse already? I have a Ruby red Yellow corris Cleaner Melaranus I really loved the carpenters at lfs but dont want to take a chance of killing it or harming my currents 4 foot tank if makes a diff

Just about any other flasher wrasse would be a compatible tankmate Notable exception would be P octotaenia as they can be more aggressive than other flashers Peaceful Cirrhilabrus sp wrasses are also a possibility (refer to Evolved's article on wrasses stickied in this forum)

Hello everyone So I just bought my first wrasse's, a carpenter's flasher wrasse and a splendid pintail I have qt'd everything that has gone into my tank thus far (fish, corals, and inverts) My question is for those of us that do qt, how do you do it for wrasse? I have prophylaticaly treated

Yep, very normal behavior for any flasher wrasse In general, they get a bit more active after the first ~2 days so long as there isn’t another fish going after them too much Try offering small meaty foods a couple times per day starting tomorrow to entice him to come out
